We might claim that no other organisation supports such diverse services and uses so many software applications as a hospital. Integration of these applications is one of the cornerstones of IT policy in the healthcare sector.
You won’t be surprised to hear us say that the medical world forms a very complex whole. Luckily, we have a wide range of software applications available to ensure the smooth operation of healthcare activities.
But each of these applications is limited to a specific sub-aspect of healthcare. That’s why we do our utmost to link these applications so that they can exchange information with each other. Unfortunately, some developers have lost sight of the generic aspects, so that this is not always self-evident.
And that’s not all… In recent years, there has been increasing pressure to share medical data with external players, outside the walls of the healthcare institution. This requires new forms of integration at various levels: between hospitals and healthcare organisations, but also with regional and national authorities. The national registration of all sorts of data is one such example.
It’s no longer merely about connecting systems and exchanging medical data. At least equally important are the people who provide healthcare services, each with their own way of working, ideas and habits. And, last but not least, we need to put the existing infrastructure and past investments to good use as well.
When dealing with integration issues, it is therefore important to be able to call on a neutral partner with a vision, with insight into the functioning of and processes in the healthcare sector and with attention for the individual.
If this broader picture is taken into account for integration projects, then integrations are much more than “a necessary evil”: they provide opportunities for optimising a hospital’s operations. Employees will collaborate better, the organisation will deal more smoothly with changes and new regulations, you will be able to work in a more cost-effective manner and keep the reins firmly in your hands… And because information is quickly available to all healthcare providers inside and outside the hospital, the patient will benefit too.
“Through our integration services, we ensure that all the relevant information is immediately available for the healthcare provider and the patient. Both inside and outside the hospital and in time even in every home.”
