NextGen updates Mirth® Connect licensing model. What does this mean for your organisation?
Thousands of healthcare institutions and companies worldwide rely on Mirth® Connect from NextGen Healthcare for the integration of their information systems. At Amaron, we have also been using this proven integration software for many years, as part of our interoperability solutions.
Recently, NextGen implemented a change to the licensing model. Starting from version 4.6, the open-source version of Mirth Connect will be discontinued, and future releases will only be available under a commercial license. As a result, the source code will no longer be publicly accessible but will be proprietary to NextGen. To support this change, NextGen is making additional investments to enhance the quality, reliability and added value of Mirth Connect, ensuring the best experience for users and the long-term sustainability of the Mirth Connect engine.
NEW: Enterprise License
As part of these changes, NextGen is introducing a cost-effective entry-level license: the ‘Enterprise’ license, which joins the existing Gold and Platinum licenses:
- The Enterprise license ensures you always have access to the latest versions of Mirth Connect.
- It comes with three plugins: SSL Manager, Channel History, and Message Generator.
- A single production license includes three test environments.
Long-term partnership enables attractive pricing
As a NextGen interoperability partner, Amaron can offer Mirth Connect licenses under highly favourable conditions. Our competitive pricing reflects our long-standing collaboration with NextGen that began in 2009.
Additionally, Amaron can provide the first Mirth Connect production server as part of the renewed Amaron Connect Support Contract. Additional production servers can be purchased separately on advantageous terms.
For companies (B2B) that use Mirth Connect as the engine within their own product, we also offer solutions, including a Mirth Connect OEM license.
What does this mean for your existing Mirth Connect environment?
The current (and latest) open-source version 4.5.2 remains valid and will continue to be supported for some time. As always, upgrades to version 4.6 and higher will proceed smoothly — something Amaron actively ensures. Once your organisation transitions to Mirth Connect version 4.6 or newer, the new licensing terms will apply. Amaron will of course continue to provide you with expert support and consultancy.
We will be happy to discuss what the changes mean for your organisation and schedule a meeting to find the best solution for your integration needs.
