During this one-day training, experienced connectivity professionals learn everything they need to know about transformations, database interaction, web services and FHIR.

During a one-day training session, our experienced trainers will teach you how to make your IT solutions work together even better, and how to get more from your data.

Moreover, during the training you can learn from the experiences of colleagues in other healthcare organisations.

On the programme:

Session 1 – JSON
> You will get an overview of the syntax of JSON. What is JSON, and how is it constructed?
> You will get an introduction to the JSON functions in Mirth Connect, and learn how to create/edit JSON objects.
> You will be introduced to JSON Arrays, and how to address them.
> We will process HL7 messages and transform them into corresponding JSON Objects.
Session 2 – Code Templates
> You will learn how to reuse pieces of code within Mirth Connect.
> Managing Code Libraries / Code Templates is also covered in this session.
Session 3 – Database Interaction
> You will learn how to call SQL Databases from a JavaScript Context within Mirth Connect to retrieve data and enrich messages.
> Furthermore, you will discover how to add/update data inside a database.
> Optionally, we explore how you can use connection pooling to obtain better performance.
> We will practice this using a local PostgreSQL database.
Session 4 – HTTP Communication
> You learn how to create your own RESTful web service in Mirth Connect.
> We delve into calling a RESTful web service from Mirth Connect.
> We practice this using requests to a FHIR Repository.
Session 5 – Message Storage
> You will learn how best to contain the diskspace of Mirth Connect’s underlying backend database.
> You will gain insight into the benefit of using distribution channels.
Session 6 – External Java Libraries (Optional)
> You will learn how to call a Java library from a Mirth Connect transformation.
> We will practice this with the help of a simple Amaron Java Library.
Session 7 – Attachment Handling
> You will learn how to reduce the diskspace of the Mirth backend database by using Attachment Handling.
> We’ll practice this using a number of use cases.
