When you receive an electronic request from primary care, another hospital in your network or a COVID testing facility, for example, the Patient/Contact Creation application retrieves the request from the communication between the digital ordering solution and the LIS, or the eHealthBox, your network folder or socket.
Patient/Contact Creation
powered by WORKFLOWER
Automate the creation of patients and/or contacts for external requests, such as lab orders, and give your administrative staff the time to perform other tasks.
How it works:
The Patient/Contact Creation application combines connectivity with workflow and eHealth services to quickly and correctly handle the patient administration for external orders for lab tests.
Benefits
FAST & EFFICIENT
Manual actions are kept to an absolute minimum, saving considerable time for your administrative staff, including time spent on patient administration tasks.
SECURE
You always work with the correct personal data, linked to the right contact. And the data is protected from unauthorised use.
UNIVERSAL
The Patient/Contact Creation application can be used for all external laboratory orders, whether they originate in other hospitals in your network or from external referrals, GPs, etc. In the future, you will also be able to use it to process orders for other examinations, e.g., medical imaging.
INSIGHT
With a complete audit trail and handy overview lists, you can easily retrace events and actions, when they happened, which tasks are still open, etc.
RETURN
The application helps your employees save significant time, which they can spend on added-value tasks for patients, for a faster return on your investment.
With Workflower, you also get a tool that allows you to automate a wide range of existing and future processes—across all divisions of your healthcare enterprise.
Frequently asked questions
Which interfaces does the Patient/Contact Creation application include?
- HL7 OML and/or ORM interface for receiving electronic orders for lab tests in, for example, a lab-to-lab context or when there are different laboratory information systems. The application also supports eForm XML messages.
- HL7 ADT interface for exchanging patient data with the HIS.
- eHealth interface for retrieving patient identification data from the Belgian government’s ConsultRN service.
Can we also use the ConsultRN component of this application in other situations?
The ConsultRN component can also be used in other situations, such as when a patient is referred to your facility.
Read more about it on the National Register Consultation page.
What happens if one of the data sources (ADT, ConsultRN) is not accessible?
If one of the data sources (ADT, ConsultRN) is not accessible, the application will automatically make several attempts to access the data source. You set the number of attempts and the time delay between them.
How can we avoid creating duplicate contacts?
If there is a chance that an order will be presented multiple times, or that multiple orders per day can be received for a patient, you can set the solution to create only one contact per day per patient.
What do we need in order to use the Patient/Contact Creation application?
As an Amaron customer, you can run the application on your Amaron application server (the same server you use for Amaron Watch and Workflower). You don’t have an Amaron application server yet? Then we will be happy to set one up for you.
We will provide you with all specifications when you place your order, and further explanations during the project kick-off meeting.
What technology does the application use?
This application has been built using the Amaron Workflower platform: a low-code platform that allows you to configure and automate all kinds of processes across your hospital’s software applications. Workflower is not limited to the clinical domain, but can also be used in administration, logistics, HR or a combination of areas.
The Workflower applications integrate with the Amaron Connect platform (EAI) to enable the seamless exchange of data with your hospital’s information systems and with the data platforms of the national and regional authorities, or other external applications, for example, AI.
“In the past, the entire process was handled manually by the laboratory’s administrative staff. This was a huge amount of work, with little added value. In the first few weeks after Amaron’s solution went into production, we processed 14,000 external applications—only 1,000 of which were handled manually. This allowed the laboratory administrative staff to save a lot of time. With Amaron’s solution, we can also generate statistics, and we have diagnostic functions available to detect errors. This way, we maintain an overview with the utmost transparency.”
